Matt Simon and Jeff Opperman grew up in Northeast Ohio in the 1970s and 80s and started a band in high school. During the pandemic they began writing songs together again. Their songs kept returning to themes around Cleveland and its history, from its pioneering leaders to its burning—and now reborn—river. They've written about growing up here, leaving and then coming back, or still looking back. The show features original songs and stories about hometown, interweaving regional and personal histories. The show also highlights the incredible collection of Cleveland photography from Gabe Wasylko and historical photos from Cleveland Public Library and Chagrin History Center.
